I wouldn't want my child in that. If you got rear ended hard, kids could get very injured. If you need 6 seats, get an SUV or van.
It's as safe as any 3rd row seat. Rear-facing 5-point is the safest you can be for most accidents.

I have the best childhood memories of sitting in the front middle seat in my mom’s car when she did carpool! I’d try and flip the radio to WAVA or Q107 and felt so important. Luckily, I was never beheaded in a crash. No, I don’t think cars have that anymore. Maybe pick up trucks still do?

The middle front seats arent safe thats why they did away with them.
You need an SUV with a 3rd row or a minivan if you have 6 people.

I doubt it. There wouldn't be an airbag there so it wouldn't be safe.

I remember many times sitting in that middle front seat right next to the driver and it would be the perfect way for us to seat 6 in a 2 row vehicle now that the kids are teens. Do they still make them? Are they safe for that extra front passenger? What about the extra seats with seat belts in the trunk? Does Volvo have that feature?
