It is my favorite. Even though I don't love the end. It is SK at his best IMO, using horror as an analogy to growing up. And I think when he channels kids and their psychology that is one of his great strengths.

I agree with 11/22/63 on the list and add Misery.

I really enjoyed the Mr Mercedes trilogy but I don't think I'd say its the BEST.

11-22-63 is not boring! It's amazing. There are a few slower parts but completely worth it in my opinion. It's a must read.

The first book gave me nightmares. I suppose that is a plug for it? Not my taste, though. I liked Misery.

I’ve heard great things, but being 800+ pages, is it drawn out and boring?

The Stand, Fire Starter. His scary books are too terrifying for me.
I read his new one-- The Institute. It was okay, not wonderful imo

The first King book that I ever read was The Stand. It's still a favorite of mine. I also enjoyed Salem's Lot, Christine, Fire Starter plus many of the ones that you've mentioned.

Should add, I read Misery, Carrie, Per Sematary, Thinner, etc in high school. Wouldn’t be opposed to revisiting any of his old titles.

I’m on a kick recently. Read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, then revisited The Shining, read Doctor Sleep, now beginning The Institute. What else is a ‘must read’?
