Thank you, that's good perspective. This must be the case. I just don't get why she wouldn't tell me when we saw each other. I would have been happy to wait another weekend or so, etc. It's fine, obviously, it's just my kids were disappointed when I said we couldn't Boo their friends' house.
Either
1) she didn't want a third party "Boo-ing" her,
2) a non-neighbor already "Boo'd" them - not sure if this is permitted under the rules, or
3) she knew she'd get into a negotiation with you about it and she doing have the time and/or energy.
2 is the most logical option, unless you've been staring at their house and know that is not the case. Then I'd go with 3 as the answer.
