Subject: How would you organize this space?
Thinking about what they might need when they are 13, 10, and 6 ... they may each want a little bit more separate space.
Can you find a bunk set that convert into a loft bed with a desk underneath?

Probably also one the same for the 5 yo, if that's not too "separate" for her. You can use these to make clearly separate spaces for each kid. You can also put bookcases in the back if they don't stand against the wall, so that they can have a little invisible cubby at their desk.
Another thing to figure out is some soft night lighting, so that your 8yo can read at bedtime while the little ones are sleeping.

there is a potentially separate smaller play area (wide hallway) and i plan to organize formal dining room to double as work space (for all, not just them) but not sure how that affects needs for desk, play space and separate space...

Also keep in mind a way to build in privacy. The 8 yo will be a teen in the blink of an eye.

I love all the cute built in bunk ideas posted, but with a room that big I would think about how you/the kids want to use the space? Do they have a playroom or other area for toys or is the bedroom also their primary play space? If the bedroom is also the main play space, then I think you really do need to look at some of the ideas above for maximizing that space. However if the bedroom is mainly for sleeping and doesn't need a lot of open space for play, you might think about ways to divide it so that each girl has a bit of her own space.
