It’s not brain surgery if you have a straightforward delivery. Many women don’t and there’s no way to predict ahead of time which camp
You will be in.

For me, I wanted midwifes, a birth center, and everything that comes along with that. That means Birth Care in Alexandria is "best" for me. But I understand lots of women wouldn't consider that anywhere close to the best.

Nope, not in a heartbeat. Also, it’s midwives.

I agree that “best” can be really subjective and hard to determine. As a person of color and first time mom, I think “best” for me is someone who is attentive, knowledgeable and supportive.

Does anyone have any recommendations for warm and welcoming OBGYNs?

"Best" should mean best at diagnosing and safely managing complications, and with admitting privileges to a hospital with good safety practices and a high-level NICU.

Spending an hour talking to the worried well about cold cuts is not really "Best"

I see Dr. Russell Bridges. It's great seeing the same OB with every visit. I feel like he's very good at making visits informative and took a long time with me answering questions at my first appointment. I also find it reassuring that he's practiced a long time and is generally pretty calm about things (he's seen/heard everything) - unless there is something legitimately concerning. The only thing he doesn't have is an online portal. I bring my questions to visits and if something happens in between, I call the main number and talk to one of his two nurses on staff.

How does that work with delivery?

He rotates with Capitol Women's Care as backup. I'll be induced, so it was less of a concern for me.

Looks at hospitals, not OBs. If you like that kind of approach you might also like midwives who tend to take longer and have a more personal approach. Also, seconding the proximity answer. No one should be going from Bethesda to Fairfax for an OB visit.

The one that is closest to your office and runs well. 3/4 of the battle is getting weight, BP, and peeing in a cup basically weekly

DMV is huge. You need to narrow it down to a county or jurisdiction.

who do you think is the best OB practice in the DMV area? where you go for your prenatal visit and the ob describe things to you and tell you information even if this will be your 2,3,4 ..etc child! I usually don't have a question for my OB at the visit but still, I'd love them explaining things to me and telling me what bests and what not!
