Fine for kids to learn the world doesn't revolve around them. Adults have adult responsibilities. Kids' lives can fold into that. In reality, your husband will probably get there at 6pm and be leaving the party at 6:15p, or may get to talking with someone there. If your kid would make a scene about it, they really are too spoiled.

Oh, please! Waiting for a kids event to end is part of being a parent. If your husband can’t find a way to kill 30 minutes he must be a moron. A lot of us would shut off the car engine, put the seat back down and take a 30 minute nap to some nice music. Ah, peace!

He needs to wait.

Too bad. Part of being a parent is making sacrifices. He can wait at work a little later, sit in his car, or (horrors!) go in and make small talk with the host family.

And why is this your problem to solve, and not your DH's?

Why crowdsource this?

I think it depends on what kind of event. A little kid birthday party, there's no reason you need to stay exactly 2 full hours.

This.

I can’t believe this is even a question.

+1

Is there a reason why he can’t wait?

He can kill time in his car for 15 mins and then go in at 615. The party will be wrapping up by then.

Yep. At least it’s not a younger kids party where one of you would have to wait the whole time? He can make small talk with any other parents there or read on his phone for half an hour so his daughter can have cake.

I often get there early. I either bring a book or head to a coffee shop nearby.

Have him stay at work a little longer or grab a drink.
