We had this happen with my kid. The teacher wasn’t able to provide much insight. So we made an effort to pay launch mire attention to DD’s writing. We realized that her grammar and writing structure was pretty terrible.

I’d recommend checking out every single piece of worsting your kid brings home this month, or look them up on Google Classroom. Go over them with your kid and make improvements, as needed.

MCPS doesn’t spend much time on grammar in the early years and it shows in some MCAP scores, I think.

They started calling it MCAP last year, but they actually still used the PARCC test. I believe they will use a different test this year, but it will be called MCAP again.

My DC took the MCAP last spring in PG County.

I thought MCAP started this spring. Last year was the last year of PARCC.

DS’ writing score was quite low. He took this in the spring as a 3rd grader. He’s our oldest so I don’t really know anything about this test. Just thought I’d post here and see if others know anything about the writing component. I plan to follow up with his teacher next week. Thanks
