Just give what you want/ can, OP. I gave $100 10 years ago and I still give $100.

Agree $50-100 is fine. Write a nice note in a (Dollar Tree) card too. They will appreciate that as well.

Either a check or a registry gift is fine. I went to a lot of weddings solo when I was still in school (I grew up around a lot of religious families where kids get married early) and I would usually pick something that was like 75 bucks off the registry.

Got married at 26, 6 years ago. Most of my friends gave in the $50+$75 range. Some got gifts in the $25-$50 range. Just do what you can manage.

Anyone who judges how much you give isn't someone you want as a friend anyways.

Whatever you can afford—in your situation I think I spent the equivalent of about $50 about 15-20 years ago.

I am a first year medical student, attending school on a scholarship. So I am not a starving student, but I do not yet have a "real job."

A good friend is getting married soon, and I am attending (solo). The wedding is in a suburb of Atlanta. First marriage for the bride and groom, and they are mid-20s, with jobs.

Can you recommend the amount that I should spend on a gift? Is either a check or a gift(s) from the registry a good choice? I have never been to a wedding!

Thank you!
