Depends on the club, but generally the top ECNL team would take the top 2, 2nd ECNL team takes the next 2, and the rest form a team and play EDP or only tournaments.

I imagine that varies from club to club.

My daughter was a trapped U15 player last year as she was the only 8th grader on her team. She played the spring conference games with the U14s and had a blast. As someone else said though it does depend on the club and the coaches.

She gets to play down a year during the high school season and play at age when her age group is playing. It is called a "trapped" player.

but only 2 players max per game. So generally a team will take on two trapped players- others will be put on a team with other trapped players and theyll play EDP in the fall to keep their touches and practices going.

Short answer, depends on the club.

For games, ECNL has set up the conferences so clubs have all of their games in the HS off-season (which is why Bethesda and Maryland United are in a different conference than the VA ECNL teams despite their proximity).
So she won't have any games except maybe a tournament. Some teams will still do Jeff Cup in the spring (or in Maryland, Bethesda during the fall season).

For practices, some clubs will continue to have a reduced practice schedule, or will have combined practices for the HS girls who decided not to play HS ball. Another alternative some offer is they have 8th graders practice with the next age group down.

Your daughter on't be the first player in her position (or who decided not to play HS) so ask around at your club to see what they've done in the past.
