Get a check up. Also weigh yourself on a schedule for awhile and see if you notice changes. Although 7 pounds in a year isn't THAT crazy, especially since a few of those pounds can easily be explained by circumstances (bladder, bowels, etc), it's always a good idea to get a workup just in case you can catch something early.

For those that say "it's a sign of cancer!". Yes, it can be. But it's usually a larger amount of weight in a shorter amount of time. If OP had lost 7 pounds in a month and hadn't changed any habits, that's more concerning than 7 pounds In a year

The symptoms I’d never ignore:
-persistent dry cough
-change in your bowel habits / blood in stool
-night sweats if non menopausal
-unexplained weight loss

Op, get a check up!

Likely this. But that aside. The answer is to get a regular physical w/ bloodwork.

Also, keep a better track of your weight. One day’s weight vs a recollection of a weight last year could be completely in normal range for you body. But you don’t know because you haven’t tracked your weight or weighed yourself in a year.

I don’t think that’s that huge of a weight loss. I wouldn’t worry.

Is your scale accurate and the same one you used last time?

Have you started walking a tad more maybe ? Even 10 min more each way because you changed your subway stop could make a difference, if not.. yes, go see a doc and check it out. I don’t mean the big C. But thyroid issues, diabetes/ sugar control issues, change in metabolism as you age could all be culprits. 7 pounds is not négligeable.

Unless you've had lifestyle changes, e.g., change in diet or exercise routine, it's not a good sign. Go see a doctor.

I don't really track my weight, but I recently stepped on a scale and noticed that I'm about 133 lbs, down from maybe 140 last year. (I'm 45 and 5'7") I don't *think* I've changed my routine significantly. In the past, I've dropped weight when I've been stressed, but I'm not feeling that now. I'm not complaining about the weight loss, but I am a little puzzled by it. Any thoughts?
