The hardest thing will be navigating the loops and circles in this area. There are signs but it can definitely be confusing for new drivers. Good luck!

I didn’t learn how to drive until I was 32!

Anxiety, lack of opportunity all played a part.

I strongly encourage you to take some hour at a time professional behind the wheel lessons from a State-licensed driving school.
(Of course, make sure that you have passed your written + vision exam first at the DMV.)

With learner’s permit in hand, take your professional courses and be sure to supplement them w/driving on your own w/a responsible relative or friend.

Do not get discouraged if you fail the road test.
I did twice.

Good luck!

I didn't drive for over 20 years (also lived in a big city where I didn't need to). I moved to the 'burbs and took one on one lessons with a local driving school and learned fairly quickly. It was embarrassing to call, but they said it's very common with adults who move from cities with public transit or people new to the US.

It took a few months, but she got her license and can drive now. She also took the test at the driving school which we heard was easier than at the RMV, although her test was pretty comprehensive. She will still need some extra lessons to drive on the freeway but she is ok on city streets now. It really takes a lot of practice with a willing parent or frnd or partner, etc. and a good driving school.

Thank you. That's very helpful and definitely will ask my sister to practice driving after work and early mornings.
