We all function better w/o DH around at bedtime. He's rarely home for bedtime anyway so I've learned to multitask/multi-kids myself on my own.

I feel you. My DH is supposed to cut my 4 yo’s nails. (And by the way, him taking on this task was literally the result of 12 therapy sessions trying to even out our division of labor.) DH always cuts the nails too close and DS always freaks out. Today, in typical fashion, DH cuts too close, but this time it is way too close and he draws blood. Then he keeps barking at DS to stop crying and insisting he can’t see any blood, and ultimately storms off, leaving me to calm down DS. But hey, the nails got cut, so it’s all good, right? Uh wrong- it would be easier if I did it myself. Even easier if I just told DH “look hon, it doesn’t have to be perfect, just as long as he doesn’t have daggers on his toes”. But no, I’m supposed to trust his parenting and not interfere.

Yep. Don't "ease him into it". Go to your class. He will figure it out - even if that means he just puts the kid(s) to be without doing everything you would have done. Hold firm on the teeth brushing and diapers, and let the rest go.
