The issue to me isn't (just) that the expectations are low (in a charter school!). The books that you read as a child stay with you for ever, and shape the way you think.
So, I'd like to poll you parents - what are high school freshmen prescribed as reading lists this year?
I'm posting this in the private school forum as well, to get a more comprehensive look at it.
