Yes, left lacrosse because of other parents horrible behavior. Same with soccer. While both of my DS and DD made college level decided to give competitive sports up and just play on rec teams in college. Totally tired of parents behaving like spoiled children.

Seems strange that OP started this thread and everybody gets along and the parents are mellow. Is this another example of parents stirring the pot to get their kid ahead in the team?

There's a guy who makes up statistics to prove his kid is the best and shares it with the coaches. He has a financial stake so people have to kind of go along with it. He has always insisted his kid is too good to play on age level. One time his kid played at age with my kid's team and the coach took the kid out because he or she wasnt performing. The guy was livid and confronted the coach, but this coach told him to pound sand. I am so glad his kid played up or I would've left.

Both times parents were talking or yelling about players within the players’ earshot. Once it involved body shape/size, and once it involved ethnicity.

Please... my kid would have quit every single team he has been on since he was 5.

No, but we’ve seen a player be asked to leave a club because of their parents’ behavior. This was a family we knew at school and their son played with a friends one year ahead of ours. The parents took videos of every game and tracked everyone’s playing time. They encouraged other families to complain to the coach. That and other behaviors made it difficult for the team to be a team. The coaches asked them not to return.

They changed clubs and then a year or two later the mom had an affair with a coach and apparently the dad emailed the entire team about it (a friend’s son played with them). They ended up moving away and nobody misses them.

No, but last year, if a particularly bad set of parents had not left the club, we would have considered leaving. The real problem is the substantial risk you will run into the same issues at any other NOVA club.

Yes this will happen. Or the toxic family will just also leave and you all be together again. That said - toxic parents are a big challenge. I dont understand why the clubs dont shut it down immediately. It can be a team destroyer.

I'd ask the coach if this is typical parent behavior. If yes, then I'd finish the season and leave.

I myself have never done this because I guess I have been lucky, but I am wondering if another parent has ever just behaved so outrageously that you left your team. I have seen some pretty poor behavior over the years including threatening to fight a coach, a ref, terrible language etc. DDs team is pretty relaxed and, to be honest, not too good, but we are all pretty mellow
