Oh, come on. Everyone has preferences that they know are irrational. As long as the person with the irrational preference is the only one inconvenienced (like the PP), what's the problem?

I like having a dog. It's an objectively stupid use of money, but I love that big stupid beast.

I have gotten interested in gardening. I'm sure it would make more sense to just plant clover everywhere, but you should see the size of one of the lavender varieties I planted. Woot!

(I drive a Subaru. I love what a dorky car it is. Before that I had a Volvo.)

We have three kids, now teens we still have our Odyssey. You can't beat the space.

A friend who also has three kids replaced her Odyssey with a Pilot for image reasons and for four wheel drive. She reported that the first family vacation was a "disaster" because the Pilot had so much less room that the van.

I prefer the Ody to the Pilot. It handles much better on the road and has greater carrying capacity.

If it's between the Pilot and Odyssey, I would definitely do the van. It's not like the Pilot is stylish, anyway. I actually prefer how the Odyssey looks over the Pilot. no brainer.

I'd do another minivan. When the kids start to drive, that's when you consider switching to another vehicle for yourself and get one or two more cars for the kids to drive.

I drive a Ford Escape. Kids have driven a corolla and a Ford Focus. All bought gently used.

Another van if you want to be practical. SUV if you are so concerned about your image. I’d do another van.

Got the Odyssey in 2010 just before our 2nd child was born. Kids are now 11 and 8 and we are not having any more kids. I’ve loved having the van but now that my kids are getting older I wonder if I should get another van or get a Pilot instead. Somehow I feel it’s more acceptable to have a minivan when your kids are smaller? I know I shouldn’t care about image. But I also worry I’ll miss the roominess of the van, plus I also think it handles a little nicer, but it’s also what I’m used to. DH prefers I get another van but ultimately is fine with either.

Thoughts?
