I think places like jiffy lube try to upsell more than dealerships.

I went to Jiffy Lube in the past and they were terrible. They used the wrong drain bolt and my car leaked oil. They didn't put the air filter back in correctly after seeing it was dirty.

What do you mean they used the wrong drain bolt??

an oil change is 30 bucks... oil change intervals are 6000 to 10000 miles. so that 30-60 bucks a year... and you are stuck going back to the dealer, rather than going someplace convenient for you..

Has anyone done this? Is it really free or do you also have to purchase other services to get the "free" oil change? Their pricing on new cars seems competitive so I am trying to figure out what the catch is.

Catch is you have to bring in your car which gives them chance to say “oh, you must do (fill in the blank) now!”
