It's about equity - not equality. There is a fundamental difference.
It's not about lowering standards, watering anything down, or whatever other euphemisms you'd like to use. It's about meeting kids where they are and ensuring everyone is supported and successful.

So, what's the plan? I mean that honestly. My kids are in a school with a massive achievement gap, and I see first-hand the energy being poured into closing it. Small class sizes, pull-outs for struggling students, a "restorative justice" model that has reduced suspensions but increased bullying, training on culturally responsive classrooms. All kids get free breakfast, many get backpacks of food on the weekends.
All of this is well and good (except RJ, which is nonsense), but what else is MCPS going to try? Like, exactly, what is the plan?

Anonymous wrote:I've just about had it with social justice. if MCPS just gets down to teaching, maybe kids would grow up not feeling so hateful and entitled. Instead, everyone walks around terrified of using the wrong color, pronoun, etc. Afraid to state their opinions because some SJ group will persecute them if it doesn't align with their thoughts. SJ is causing more harm than good. Montgomery county has lost its mind.
