Subject: Whitman being evacuated
Dear Parents and Students-
The purpose of this email is to inform you about two separate incidents that occurred at Walt Whitman High School this morning. During fourth period, a student assaulted another student. Our security staff and the Montgomery County Police Department responded quickly and the student was arrested. As a result, we held students in fourth period until the situation was resolved.
In addition, at approximately 11:15 a.m., a fire alarm was activated in the building. The building was evacuated, the fire department responded promptly, and students and staff were cleared to reenter the facility at approximately 11:35 a.m.
As always, safety and security are our first priority. We appreciate the responsiveness of the Montgomery County Police Department and Fire and Rescue. If you have any questions, please contact the Walt Whitman main office at 240-740-4800.

All the kids from the Center for Women and Children on Greentree go to public school. It's part of their marketing for the boys inpatient program.

A student who saw what was happening apparently pulled the fire alarm. That's why students were evacuating.

Because the law says we have to educate people, and you can be 19 and still be in HS. That's what happens to redshirted kids.

Yes. It’s a sad day when a blunt metal object brought to school as a weapon seems quaint and non threatening.
