I buy mine at Wegmans. They are Goya brand and I get the ones made for baking. I tend to sauté up leftover meat and vegetables at the end of the week and use it for filling.

El Patio in Rockville has a small grocery section with empanada pre-cut, rolled rounds. Doubt they are whole wheat (yuck!).

Thanks for the advice. I live in Silver Spring. Would I find the Goya stuff in the freezer section? And do you have any recommendations for Latino grocery stores?

Goya has them with and withouta anatto. If you want whole wheat, you will probably have to make your own.

You can a number of different types of white flour discs (mini size, with annatto or w/o). I've never seen whole wheat ones. Goya probably has the most widely available line of empanada discs. They might have them at big grocery stores in your area depending on your local population (they have them at my Stop and Shop). They are more of a central american or dominican (pastelitos) thing, but most if not all latino grocery stores will have them. They will be in the freezer section.

I've done this making my own dough and rolling everything out, but it's just so much work. We get meals from Plated, and when I order empanada dinners it comes with these lovely circles of white flour flattened dough that are such a cinch to put together. I would buy the white flour dough circles if that product exists, but even better would be whole wheat dough ready to go. Any ideas?

I've seen ones at Giant in the frozen section, but they are made of white flour. I've never tried them though.
