We do marie kondo style folding, so no digging through to get a shirt on the bottom. My kids share a 3 drawer Hemnes dresser - 1 drawer each and one for pants/shorts in season. Their drawers have organizers from ikea that separate socks, underpants, undershirts, shirts, etc.Out of season stuff or excess stuff gets put in a closet or in a bin to hand down or take to goodwill.

They wear the favorites each week anyhow, so having a ton on hand isn't useful for us.

Out of season goes into bins under the bed or in the closet. It’s a bit of a mess now because I’m behind on purging the stuff he’s outgrown, but that’s the idea behind it .

When the weather changes I take everything off-season and put it in a box on the top shelf of their closet. End of summer and end of winter.

I leave out TWO outfits for unseasonable weather.

We hang everything too! No not socks. Kids can learn early to put things on hangers. It makes it easier to see all the options and you don't end up with the messy drawer when you choose the item on the bottom to wear. Truly it is no more trouble to put something on a hanger than to fold it.

I have a 2 and a 4 year old and I do laundry when they are out of the house. I fold while I watch tv and then put piles in their drawers. Hanging would be awful haha. But I do agree it'd keep things neater.

I rotate seasons. I have a bin in the closet for of-season clothing, and a bin which collects clothes that no longer fit; I take it to donate once it’s full. In the dresser are this season’s clothing.

When my kids were young and had a lot of clothing (mostly hand me downs which is why I ended up with so much), I rotated stuff every season. Off-season items or things they hadn't grown into yet were stored in boxes in a basement closet. As soon as they'd outgrown things, I returned them to the person who had loaned them to us in order to free up space. Now that they're older and we're done with hand me downs, I simply buy them just enough to get by and it all fits easily in their dresser and closet.

I roll tops and bottoms so they fit better. My DD has at least 20 shirts per season (mostly hand me downs) and they fit easily in one drawer, rolled. How much do you have??

Yes I have a few bins in the closet where I rotate the off-season clothing. So in a few weeks the shorts and tank tops will go in there, and all but a few t-shirts. During the off season I'll go through it all and sort out what was too small, or what is very likely to be too small, and set it aside to give away. Then I toss anything stained or ripped.

I use the closet shelf to store any too big clothing we have for whatever reason.

My one rule is that I don't buy more bins! I have 3. One is full of baby/little toddler stuff I couldn't part with, the other 2 hold the off season clothes that are waiting to be sorted.

Anything we use regularly we keep in the dresser.

My son has a lot of clothes and they don't all fit in his dresser. We could get him a second one, but I am looking for some other ideas on how to store them so they are easy to access and find things. Any ideas for the clothes that don't fit in the dresser? I don't want to hang them up since we don't have the space for that but we do have space for bins or an extra dresser.
