Yes, forget the expectation It teaches your child to appreciate the thoughtfulness of the gift giver.

Same. Think better of parents who do them.

I don’t expect them but am happy when I receive them. We always send them when we have a party.

I didn't expect them, but my kids absolutely sent them and I noticed if we didn't receive one of we hadn't already been thanked in person.

I used to send them but then I realized I was the only one. So I stopped, mostly because I didn’t want seem like I was super high maintenance.

No. And don’t care AT ALL.

I send them for any gift we receive. I am English though and this is how I was raised. I like to get them from other people but usually don't.

No I don’t expect them. Large parties with lots of kids creates chaos with the presents. Cards get separated from gifts, some gifts don’t have cards or they go unnoticed, maybe the child tossed the card before the parent could write down whom sent the gift and what it was.

This is one of the many good reasons to specify no gifts for large parties.

Expect no, but we always do them. At that age, we did the fill in cards.

Yes, I do expect a thank you acknowledgement (doesn’t have to be a written card - I love getting videos of the child thanking me) from any gift not opened in my presence. It’s rude not to.

If you go to a large birthday party for a 3-6 year old, do you expect thank you cards for your gift? I'm curious because we've been to a few of them and not gotten any thank you notes. I don't expect them. But now we've had one ourselves, and I wonder if people will expect my child to send something.
