This. "Gross, Mom!"

Backup only.

My 15 year old does as a backup at school. She’s under 90 pounds and very petite, so she is the size of a younger teen. They work well.

There are 2800 kids at her high school and they have 3-4 blocked classes per day with 5 minutes for passing— including having to dash out to trailers. Now that she doesn’t have PE any more, she can only use the bathroom over lunch or if she gets excused from class. And even lunch is 30 minutes to buy food, eat, use the bathroom and get to and from the lunchroom. (Giving girls on their period one bathroom break a day is criminal IMOots another example of how schools are set up without thinking about girls needs. But that’s a different rant).

She doesn’t like tampons. So yeah— pads and Thinxs to get her through the 4+ hours between restroom breaks without embarrassing accidents. They seem to work. She’s only had to call me to bring clean clothes once in over two years.

She does her own laundry. But I agree you would have to be looking closely to notice the blood on black. I believe she washes them separately on delicate and air dries them.

I just ordered my daughter the Thinx btwn (teen sized thinx) starter pack- it has 3 different styles to try for $49. She just started her period and likes tampons but I feel this will provide nice backup- and she was interested in them. I wish I had them when I was her age!

Mine does. They're particularly great for sleeping in when she's expecting but hasn't yet gotten her period - have saved us a few sheet washings.

Mine wears them as backup.

Nope. I offered to order a pair for my kid to try, but she said absolutely not. She's prefers tampons and liners during the day, pads at night.

Yes, but just as back up. Helps with night time leaks she was having.

Eh. I use them, so I'm washing them anyway. And the interiors are black, so it's not as though you see blood.

I think they are also a useful back-up to tampons and pads
.

I would have loved them for these purposes as a teen. I remember my friends and I worried so much about leaks and whether there might be a stain on the back of your pants when you stood up...so embarrassing! That wouldn't be a problem with these.

+1

My DD uses Thinx in addition to either tampons or pads for this very reason. She plays sports that involve wearing white and the beige colored Thinx does not show through the white shorts/pants even though the underwear has a black interior layer. Truly a wonderful thing because it makes her more confident she won’t be embarrassed by a leak.

My daughter turns 13 this weekend. No period yet but probably getting close.

Does your 12/13/14 year old wear Thinx or other super-absorbant "period" underwear?
Or just pads/tampons?

Thanks so much.
