Subject: S/O Did you ever catch your parents in the act?
I did, and i was probably 11 at the time. I still remember it weirdly vividly, and how freaked out my parents were, how my father came to find me to talk about it (AWKWARD!) and how much I just wanted to forget it.
Now I'm glad they were still having that much fun together, but sadly it's still kind of disturbing to me.

Never caught them in the act, and while they have been married for 50, i can honestly look back and say i don't know if they've had sex since i was born. They are best friends and get along well enough, but there is no kissing, no memories of them having "sleep in saturday mornings" or anything else. Their bedroom door was ALWAYS open, and i feel like my mom is sort of grossed out by my dad because he's overweight (and she's in great shape). I'm also not delusional -- i am looking back as a 40-something adult with a very healthy sex life and trying to wrack my brain to think of any hints of their former sex life - and have none. It's sad on the sexual side, but they generally seem really happy as friends and life partners so i think it works for them.

Not that I remember, but I heard them once. And they'd often take a "nap" in the afternoon. Never figured THAT out til I was an adult.

But once I became sexually active I began to realize that they were too. Now my parents are in their mid-60’s and I know they have an active sex life. We often take over their house when they are away and the candles on the bedside tables, the towels in the drawers and the lube are damn good clues plus they really adore each other. Good for them and I hope I’m that lucky in 30 years.

I have a very, very vague memory, so I must have been 4/5, if t happened at all. By age 8 they split up so no more walking in on them, although my mom made me sleep over at her boyfriends’ houses all throughout my childhood so they could bang.
In high school my best friend came to school distraught because her parents had taken a shower together that morning. Seemed kind of ridiculous- at least they still liked each other!

I did. It was early morning and they were in a little room off of their bedroom. I was just confused why they were both naked. I didn't know why they were so flustered. I was going into 3rd grade. Now that I think back, the shades were wide open!

Some people seem really hung up on preventing kids from knowing they have sex. It made me wonder if anyone else ever walked in on their parents. I assumed it was sort of a rite of passage that most kids accidentally happen upon their parents in some intimate act. Most of my friends did. I know I’ve been walked in on, and DH is really obsessive about locking the door. Sometimes we get caught up in the moment and think it’s locked when it isn’t.
My parents were pretty open about having a healthy, loving relationship. They’d kiss in front of us kids, even when we had friends over. It seemed normal and didn’t feel embarrassing. I can remember my parents would shower together a lot, under the guise of saving water. My mom would say she was going to take a shower, and my dad would say to call him after she washed her hair, and before long we’d hear her yell “DH! Come get in before I use all the hot water!” And he’d hightail it to the bathroom. We knew better than to go into the bathroom then. Again, I just assumed everyone’s parents did that and were open about it. I think sometimes it was about efficiency just because of the frequency and their openness. The thing I hated though, was that my bedroom was below theirs. I never walked in on them, but I could hear way too much of their shenanigans. They weren’t particularly loud or anything. I could even hear my mom asking my dad to make sure he locked the bedroom door. That was my cue to leave my room to watch tv or have a snack or something. Apparently noise carries very well in their house.
I wasn’t scarred by any of it, and I have a healthy sex life now. Just curious if there’s some correlation between walking in on your parents and how worried you are about being walked in on by your kids.
