I had two retrievals. The first I had 23 eggs and recovery was OK. I was sore for a few days but back to normal life after that. My second retrieval I had 6 eggs. I felt awesome immediately and was back to normal activity the next day. Have no idea if fewer eggs meant an easier recovery but it definitely was in my case.

PP here Sometimes they end up with more eggs than the follicle count. I got 2 PGS normals from my 9 egg cycle ... I was so bummed at first bc I got fewer eggs but it truly can go anyway. Which makes it all so frustrating. Do something nice for yourself tomorrow!

I had to do it without anesthesia. It’s really not that bad. Don’t worry.

I heard so many stories of difficult recoveries, but I had an easy wake up from the anesthesia, no pain to speak of, and even managed to stop for a quick early dinner on our way home. I felt perfectly normal by the next day. I had over 20 eggs retrieved, too.
I was really nervous about the whole thing, but it wasn’t nearly what I’d made it out to be in my head. Agree with a PP, though...the worst part was the waiting for status updates.

The anesthesia was like falling pleasantly asleep, there was zero pain and so no real need for recovery. The only thing that will weigh on you is finding out about the “yield,” especially if you are self pay (how many were mature, how many fertilized, how many will make it to ballast etc.).

I have my egg retrieval scheduled for tomorrow morning and am feeling a bit anxious about it - the anesthesia, pain, recovery. Any tips or words of wisdom from those who have experienced it?
