I was in the wrong because it did say buses only and that is the sign I missed. However all he had to do was say - hey you are in a bus lane, there are no left turns out of this road in the mornings - and point to the sign.

That's kinda what he did though. Little bit louder than you'd liked but...

Funny, because the only major rage incident I have ever experienced was from a biker breaking the law. He blew through a red light as I was turning right and nearly hit my car. When I stopped to pull into my building's driveway he pulled up to my window and yelled all kinds of psychotic profane things. I was so afraid I started dialing 911 as I had my kids in the car. Come to think of it, I see bikers yelling and screaming all the time. Oh, and breaking the law all the time. ALL THE TIME. So spare us the sanctimony.

Honestly people like OP are the major reason for road rage. They drive under the speed limit, stop erratically and don't know their way around. Why weren't you using google maps?

Hey OP, I can relate. One time I stopped really early in the morning (5AM) to get a Starbucks coffee. When I was at a traffic light after that, a guy rolled down his window and started going off on me because I had forgotten to turn my headlights back on. The Starbucks parking lot was super well lit so I didn’t even notice it at first. I was shell shocked by his cursing and anger and said “thank you” and turned my lights on. Looking back, I don’t understand how a person can have that much rage in them at 5AM.

DCUM rage is a thing.

Not sure why this was moved to cars and transportation. Guess I shouldn't have used the word road in the title!

Thanks PP. His rage just caught me off guard. A minor infraction that doesn't impact him and it set him off completely. Scared to think what he is like in life!

Hey OP, I’m on your side.
That guy was being a jerk. You weren’t impacting his trip, he just stopped because he’s a self-appointed Road warrior.
You were smart not to engage him.

There is a bus lane in a mall?

OP, if you're going to drive during rush hour, please figure out how to get somewhere before you leave the house. Also, if you get lost, pull into the parking lot and regroup. No sense in causing a jam.

Not condoning road rage, but it sounds like you were distracted on a device trying to figure out your direction.

This morning I was at a small shopping mall in an unfamiliar part of town. I pulled into a left hand turn lane and was stopped at a red light. There weren't any cars behind me. I was focused on figuring out what route to take to my next destination. There was a median beside me on the left.

A car coming from the road turned into the shopping mall and stopped beside me (car going opposite direction) on the other side of the median. I rolled down my window as the man inside was gesturing at me. For this guy to stop he is now blocking the entrance to the mall.

He proceeds to yell at me. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you retarded? Can't you see you in a bus lane - only buses from 7-9? How can people be so f'ing stupid. He screams at me for about 30 seconds and then drives off. He was well dressed - dress shirt and well groomed and looked like a very typical everyday probably 35-45 year old guy.

I didn't even answer as it took me half the time to figure out what he was mad about and then he didn't even really take a breath. At first I was annoyed but then I thought - what kind of life had that guy had? What has happened to him that he has that much rage simmering under the surface. That has to be an awful way to live. Made me very grateful for my own life. I get irritated but have never felt so much anger that I would explode at a stranger.
