Which brings up the obvious point -- the man can compensate for hitting the physical "wall" with high money or status, whereas there's nothing a woman can do to compensate for losing her looks. Too bad, so sad!

It all depends on whether or not they take care of themselves physically. Some seriously hit the wall in their mid 30’s when they put on a big gut and spend their free time playing fantasy sports. Others never really hit a wall it’s just that they can’t climb over the wall the way they use to. My husband is 61 and is still in very good shape with a full head of hair but he is 61 and admits that every year the tennis court seems to get bigger. We are still very active sexually and he has no need for meds. He was probably at his hottest between 45-50 but he’s never hit the wall. Plenty of guys his age have definitely hit the wall a long time ago so I consider myself to be pretty lucky.

No, before that.
Once they get married they cozy up into a child role and you are mommy role. Many marry for someone to take care of them, their family image, and do everything house or child related, whether you are working full time or not.

I think it depends on when guys first start to put on a lot of weight and if they ever lose it. I noticed in grad school that about 1/3 of the guys were severely doughy and soft. Probably drank way too hard in college and then once they entered law firms they had no time to exercise or eat well. I would say that a lot of guys in my office who have young kids at home seem to be this way (most are in the early to mid 30s). That's also when some of them start to lose quite a bit of hair and you can start to see bald spots. I would say these are the guys who don't have great stamina. The ones who are still fit and eat and work out are probably fine at this point.

Some of my older guys friends admitted that they experienced a drop in drive in their 40s. One of my closest friends is my age (in his 40s) but has high blood pressure and carries about 15 extra pounds. Plus he's never really exercised ever his entire adult life other than just walking places.

An attractive divorced friend of mine (she's early 40s) told me that the guys she's dated in their early to mid 50s all seem to have trouble maintaining hardness. I think this is incentive not to dump my spouse. He's a bit of a unicorn. He's tall and lean and has trouble gaining weight (it's his dad's side of the family). In the 15 years or so since I've know him there's been no noticeable drop in hardness. I will probably kick myself as we get into our 50s and things start to decline however, b/c i'm not taking advantage of it. My reluctance is due to the huge amount of resentment that's built up due to his not taking care of things around the house (but I digress).

So I would say, most guys start to experience drops in testosterone etc. in their 40s and definitely into their 50s. But the ones who don't eat well, drink heavily and have a bad lifestyle/genetics may start to experience that drop a lot sooner.

Just had my 20 year high school reunion. Judging by the soft-bodies I saw there, I'd say it happens some time before 38.

Physically, peak is around 24, if they're in shape. Agree that they can be hot until 50s, but that's rare. Most start putting on weight in college and never get back in shape. I'd say the exact same thing for women.
