They are getting very prickly with the parking. Not only do you have to move your car after 2 hours, you cannot move it to another spot in the zone. So it would be very difficult to park all day without the parking pass.

NP here. Is this true? How should I know this? It's not on the signs.

I would not have a zoned parking permit. So does noone commute by car to either of those areas?

That is correct. It’s a limited number of folks who would commute there. Shaw and Mt Pleasant are residential neighborhoods with some commercial areas. They’re not set up for commuters. The only people who would regularly commute there would be nannies and school teachers. Typically a family would offer their parking spot for their nanny. And a school would have its own parking area for teachers. (At least most public schools would because they have the space.)

There are a fair number a few people working in the stores, restaurants and library, as well as in the apartment buildings, etc. I would be surprised if none of them drive.

People commute but they pay for parking.

Are there parking garages/lots in Mt. Pleasant? I am guessing there must be some in/near Shaw, but maybe not the case in Mt. Pleasant.

PP above answered this: There is a garage at Target. Enter at 14th & Park Road.

Where in mt pleasant? And why do you say Shaw or Mt pleasant? You know they’re not next to each other?

If near the Target, you can get monthly parking at the garage. Otherwise, look at craigslist and see if anyone is renting their space.

Anyone know what my options would be in either neighborhood (destinations would be on the downtown strip in Mt. Pleasant and near the metro in Shaw)? Trying to figure out whether either area would work with a car commute. Thx.
