They are similar. Bad and bad... For low SES families and kids.

My child is having a great experience at Blair. We know several happy Einstein families too.

Both are similar save for the magnet program which buses in kids for across the county to prop up it's metrics

I thought they got rid of sibling preferences?

This is what is says in the DCC booklet:

Sibling Link

Parents may request that their Grade 8 child be
assigned to the same high school as a sibling who is
currently in the general education program in Grade
9, 10, or 11 at a DCC high school. Sibling link will be
indicated on the Choice form instruction letter mailed
in October. Simply place the siblings assigned high
school as first choice on the Choice form.

Sibling link is exercised during the lottery process when most seats
are available. Parents should note that after Round 1
and Round 2 of the lottery are completed, requesting
sibling link during the appeal process is not always
guaranteed because all students have been assigned and
high school seats are limited.

Wait when did they raise the "capacity" of Blair to over 2900? I swear it used to be capacity of around 2600 or something close to this. There hasn't been an expansion has there?

Last I saw Blair had 2800 but was slated to be over capacity in the next year or so.

Blair's official enrollment last fall was 3,196. Their capacity is 2,920.

Wow!

OP - it may be helpful to briefly describe your child's interests, academic level, etc. For example, Einstein has an excellent IB program if that was in alignment with your her/his temperament, a good theater program, etc.

Both are good choices. They have different focuses so it depends on what your child wants.

Can she get into the CAP program at Blair?

I'm assuming that there is no chance for the SMAC program.

My child will have a choice between the two because she has a sibling at one and the other is our home school.

Does anyone have direct experiences with the two schools? What are the differences?
