We got the Graco 4ever and are pretty happy with it but are still in rear-facing convertible mode.
You need to factor in the expiration date of the seat. If it's a 7-year lifespan you might have to get a backless booster before your kid is ready for nothing. However, backless boosters are pretty cheap.

Anonymous wrote:Our convertible seat (Diono Radian) turns into a high back booster. So my 5 year old is still in the 5 point harness, but she is 44 lbs and 44 inches tall so she could use the high back booster. We'll keep her in the 5 pt harness for a little longer.
However, I do feel ok with her in a back less booster in a pinch (like a short Uber ride) or trip to the playground with her baby sitter.

back less booster

DD is 6 and only 40 lbs - we're planning to take the harness off and use the seatbelt around Christmas time.

Anonymous wrote:She should remain in the convertible seat (or any seat with a 5 point harness) until at least 40lbs although the official recommendation is until she maxes out either the weight or height limits of the seat. Only then can she move to a booster seat.
