This was our experience with our oldest kid. Level III sounds good on paper and some of the schools with LLIV seem to offer a lot more services to Level III students, such as allowing them to join the LLIV classes in certain subjects. If there’s no LLIV, it’s usually 30-60 minutes per week of enrichment but no differentiation in the core classes. Our base school with no LLIV does not offer advanced math until 5th grade, which means a lot of kids in 3rd and 4th grades are doing independent reading or playing math games while their classmates try to get proficient enough to eek out a passing score on the SOL.
