I think it was the scariest movie ever made. By far. And a classic at the same time in a f’king odd way.

Was there some sort of parenting trend in the 70's to allow young kids to see this movie? I was 13 and terribly frightened by it.

Yup. And that's saying a lot as I did not find the movie all that scary.

Funny trivia, Linda Blair wound up dating Rick James a few years after filming. Super cute.

The Exorcist was the scariest movie I ever saw.

Too bad I saw it while still in Elementary School.

Does anyone here remember the evil babies from the “It’s Alive” horror series....??!

I think about it any time I am near Mt. Ranier. Supposedly the real life inspiration for the exorcist movie lives there. He was a boy and of course now a grown man who says he doesn't remember much.

Ever.

I saw it as a young child and will never “unsee” Linda Blair’s backward turned head.

Thanks for the reminder

I read some articles years ago about the priests involved in the real life situation that inspired that movie. That was a lot more interesting than the fictionalized version and less frightening, in a way. Sorry I have no links.

That movie has scarred me for life. My parents thought it was hilarious to leave me alone (at ten) to finish the movie on my own.

I would stop now and consume no more "The Exorcist" content. I saw the movie and had panic attacks after. Even now I can panic coming up a dark staircase thinking of the movie. This is decades later.

That movie scarred me. I would never ever read the book.

I'm reading The Exorcist. Holy crap, I don't think I have the nerve to finish it. I saw the movie when I was really, really young and it had a mind-bending effect on me. I thought I could handle the book now that I'm an adult.

Anyone else totally scared ****less by this book? I think what's so scary is the idea that dwelling on evil things invites evil in. That's part of the book, and also a warning about seeing the movie by the overly-religious when it first came out.

What thinks you?
