Carpet beetles, apparently people can have an allergic reaction to them

That happened to me too. I was so freaked out because it coincided with us moving into a new house. I thought they were in the carpets. Nope - I was getting bit on my feet and lower legs from chiggers from being outside in just flip flops or barefoot.

Primarily on exposed body parts—face, hands, the spot on her back at the top of her waist and, etc. There are definitely some mosquitos in our apartment but we’ve tried aiming a fan at her bed and she still gets bitten.

They primarily bit while we slept and sometimes we’d see and kill them. We had bites on any exposed body part - hands, face, even DH’s head. It was awful and we could never figure out how they were getting in.

It varies. She’s had them in different places at different times. Sometimes none for a month or two and then she gets a bunch in one night. She doesn’t necessarily get bitten in the night wherever she goes but bugs definitely love her. The only reason I think it isn’t bed bugs is that she one time had this happen in an air bnb and we freaked out and called an exterminator who said there would have to be an obvious I gestation for her to be as bitten up as she was and there were no obvious signs. He checked visually and with a dog and found nothing. I’ve done a pretty thorough check of mattress, box spring, headboard, etc and seen nothing.

Where is DC getting the bites?

Call an exterminator. If you have been unable to resolve this for 2 years, you need a professional.

your kid has been getting bug bites at night for two years and you havent checked for bed bugs

So, it's been going on for 2 years?

How can you be so sure it isn't bed bugs? You've been given them blood meal for 2 years...and they can go like another 2 yrs without food.

Does she have these bites when she is sleeping in her sister's bed, in a hotel/on vacation, etc. ?

This is the most likely cause. The other child is just not having a reaction to the bites.

Could be fleas, chiggers, allergic reaction. Where are the bites - on her torso? Along the waist band of the pajamas?

Our kids share a room and one of them wakes up occasionally wakes up with a bunch of bug bites. When it happens on consecutive nights, we'll put some natural bug spray on her before bed and she's fine. The other kid rarely if ever gets bitten. I've checked for signs of bed bugs, we've tried putting a fan by her bed, but this still happens. Any idea what it could be/how we can prevent it?
