Dude - if you are this upset this soon you aren’t going to make it. It literally doesn’t matter.

I hate “meh”. Pretend you don’t understand and ask the question again.

Op here. Makes sense. I think reacting and responding quickly just gives him motivation to use it more. So, I am going to pass and not react.

I dislike "blah blah blah" and I tell my kids it's rude. But it's not a very bad word.

If you overreact about minor things, why will your child pay attention when you respond to major things?

Get a grip. It’s not a “very bad word” and if you take everything your 8 year old says personally, I feel bad for both of you!

Very bad word?
Oh my.
If you don't like the word, just don't respond to it. He'll learn at home that it's not acceptable to you. If others don't like it, he'll get negative feedback from them. You can't actually control the words that people say. All you can do is react (or not) to them.

Pretty sure you're being overly dramatic but, if it means this much to you: stop modeling it as an acceptable response; vocalize your feelings in a simple and direct way when he uses it and ask him to give another response.

Meh .. That is what about 8 years old DS has learned from either enrichment class or from TV. DS answers Meh for Yes and Meh for No depending on his mood. Already explained him many times that it is a very bad word and the other person feels ignored. I even did Meh to him when he asked to play so that he can understand how bad it feels.

But, Meh continues... I am afraid schools start shortly and don’t want DS to take this garbage learning to school. What do you do when your child picks up vocabulary you never expected!

I know some responses to this thread is going to be Meh .. lol
