I know several teachers who did it 2-3 years and were generally very satisfied with compensation and lifestyle.

It's wonderful, have a great time! Depending on where your work is, maybe ask for a villa in Dubai. I lived in the use for 3 years and loved it. Great for little kids. Go before they start asking too many questions

So many incredible parts of the world are less than a 5 hour flight away. I'd think about it.

Friends live in Dubai with 3 young children. They seem very happy.

You’ll have to familiarize yourself with Muslim culture

Go for it.
You can make and save a lot of money.
Go visit the city with your family and see what kind of life style you are going to enjoy.

This exactly. Women are considered doormats.

I’d consider it. It’s a clean safe place. Culturally different but it’s not the stone ages.

Expat packages can be very good, housing, driver, cook, food, schooling, etc/“@ taken care of.

I was born in the UAE. I have had several relatives who have worked there for many years. It used to be a good way to sock away a lot of funds for a few years, but living expenses there have risen. Do the math and make sure you can save a lot while you are there. Eventually you will want to come back home.

Absolutely go for it! UAE is beautiful and adventurous. It’s open and welcoming to foreigners. Your kids will probably attend a British School or International school. Both good options. I would go in a heartbeat. By the way, their houses are huge and your wife will be able to hire an affordable nanny to help.

Does she work? How about taking a trip over to see what she thinks? With two young children (toddlers?) perhaps it might work for a few years then move on?

I’m speaking with a company with a growing presence in the the UAE and it’s in Abu Dhabi. Supposed to have good benefits, would pay for kids school, help with relocation, visas, health, little to no taxes, and 8 weeks vacation. They even asked me what it would take to consider a move. I’m mulling it over with DW but not sure how comfortable she would be there being a woman with young girls.

Anyone with experience working there and whether it was a culture shock?
