I wouldn’t mind too much, but I would never do this as the host. I have an obligation of care for my young guests that doesn’t square with a shower or working in the basement, attic or at the bottom of the garden.

Does she house vagrants or something? Is there a large and accessible sword collection in their house?
My answer could change depending on the circumstances.

I didn't see the age in the OP the first time and after reading they were left unsupervised, I was imagining 4 yos. But 7.5! Yeah, 7.5 yo can definitely be left alone while mom showers.

She's 7! At 7 my daughter got home from school, unlocked the door to let herself in, re-locked, got changed into tights & leotard for dance or gymnastics, got a snack, got her sports bag, and waited for me to come honk in the driveway.
She was home alone for 30-45 minutes with no problems. Unless your kid has some sort of delays or special needs, you're nuts.

Ha just realized how weird that sounded. I shower while I'm home alone with them. Not daily with them.

Not a big deal. The kids are 7.5 and capable of getting help if something happened. A shower is easily interrupted.

Which do you do: make your kids hang out in the bathroom with you when you shower or do you not shower?

I can’t even fathom why this would concern you.

I know, if you have to ask if you’re overreacting, you’re probably overreacting. I’m just curious what you’d think of this.
My DD7.5 went two houses down to play with a friend. When I finished up lunch, I quickly ran down there to get her, knocking on the door. There was quite a delay before the mom answered, and she said she was sorry, that she was just getting out of the shower. So the girls were left more or less unsupervised for that time while the mom was showering.
It’s rubbing me the wrong way and I don’t know why.
