OP - your kid won’t know unless he applies! But take a visit and look at the brand new CS building (actually CS has like a mini-campus now). Has to be the nicest in the country.

MD has a very good CS program. Much better than UVA or VaTech.

Why would you think that is what OP was asking about? OP didn't even mention scholarships. She mentioned CS.

My bad, did mention scharships

They send about 8-10 a year. I think most get scholarships to at least bring it down to in state.

it doesn't work like that - you need to attend school (as in high school) in the state from which you are applying.

My understanding is that it is enough for the parent in the desired state to list the child on their tax return. I don't know all the details, but several friends have been sending their older children in-state where the second parent lives forever, so there must be a loophole.

Yes some do. As for the scholarship, they have to compete with MCPS magnet kids. Tough competition.

Read this re scholarships. https://www.admissions.umd.edu/finance/freshman-merit-scholarships

Doesn’t TJ publish where graduates are accepted or attend?

Do they get scholarships? Wondering if my ds should consider umd since it’s ranked better than uva and vtech for cs. Thoughts?
