I have a lot of male friends because I value their friendship. When I'm not dating someone (which is often), I appreciate even more that I have male and female friends. Makes your life feel full even when that one particular area is empty.

I think there are people of both sexes who do it. I know a man who married his on the rebound.

Perhaps I was a bit promiscuous for the late 80s. I had a FWB and dated up to 3 others guys at once. Never more than necking with the others. FWB and I had sex weekly. Oh, he did have a gf for part of the time.

In my early 20’s I did. He wasn’t really a back up BF more like a FWB. If we were both unattached we’d hang out together, travel together and take care of each other’s sexual needs. We were too different for it to ever be a LTR but it was a nice relationship.

Nope. But when I was casually dating post divorce, I did have backup people to have sex with. But never a backup boyfriend. Not only do I not have time for that but never would I respect a man who fell into that type of trap.
