When we lived there, you'd get a key card, which you'd scan as you came into the center. Your account would come up on the screen, showing them which classes you were currently signed up for. You could also pay for open swim time or whatever else was available, at that time. We took classes at about 6-7 different rec centers over the years.

Arlington is similar, but you get a paper card and you show that every time you walk in.

Also, you can pay to do things a la carte without a membership (like swimming or ice skating).

If you sign up for a Parktakes class with Fairfax County that is held at a Rec Center, do you need a rec center membership? Or will they let you in to just take the class you paid for?
