Seriously... it seemed like an honest enough question. Have we become so jaded by the BS on this board that we can't give an honest answer? We didn't live in this area when my daughter was that young, but she was first exposed around age 4 through Soccer Shots at daycare. Something like that, or a once-per-week league on weekends where they learn general soccer concepts is perfect. I know some programs on the Virginia side offer a "parent and me" kind of option at that age, too. Just pick something that is convenient and fun for him!

At that age, we did soccer classes through the county parks & rec department. When my daughter entered kindergarten, we put her on a team with her friends at school.

Sorry, if you're not already in a pre-school academy affiliated with a great international team, you might as well give up.

Come on people 4 years old... sign up for some little kids soccer clinic once a week. You don't need any training program or club. Soccer shots or something like that

Most kids that young just want to play with their friends as the primary motivating factor. You can get a group clinic started after school through a club like PPA (I’m not affiliated with them but my kid used to play for them several years ago and it’s a decent starting point). They’ll teach some skills and have the kids play sharks and minnows type stuff. You want a coach who is fun and keeps the kids engaged.

First it is probably too late.

Second who is serious about this you or your kid?

By late I mean a lot of programs are already on waitlist.

Get moving. Whatever you do don’t fool yourself into thinking you can just kick the ball around with your child on your own and have fun. That is what Pulisic’s dad did and the odds of that working for you are very small.

He needs to have fun at his age and get a ball on his feet. Foot skills, foot skills, foot skills and let him have fun. Don't coach from the sideline as it is his deal. Congratulate him and support him.

Club doesn't matter really. A good coach always matter. Not sure what area you are in, but make sure the coach is good.

Yes I’m early but want to use the advice of you all to help me. I have a 4yo who wants to play soccer and I have no clue about the sport. Where did you start your children to play and what is the path to take as I officially become a soccer mom? (I read something about clubs?) FYI we live in Takoma. TIA!
