It is much more stable, and the classroom can slowly change as the kids’ needs change. (Ours started as an older infant room, with kids taking a couple of naps a day in cribs, and now is essentially a toddler room, with a single nap time in cots—but it morphed into this over the course of the year, and each child switched over as he or she was ready). Wonders meets the needs of each individual child. Mine was a late walker, and hey paid for an OT to come and do an evaluation to make sure she was on track (she was!). The teachers have good pay and benefits, especially relative to other centers in the area, and there is virtually no turnover. We could not be happier. Over the years, we have had our kids in a few different centers, and Wonders is the best by far.

Do you have any specific questions? What age are you looking at?

We found this to be true for our older child. Loved the program, child was there from infancy through prekindergarten. (There has been a fair bit of turnover though -- if you're there 5+ years you see it. I would imagine that's true just about anywhere and is not a knock against the school.) We have been less happy with it for our younger child, to the point we are considering switching. We'll see how the new school year goes for a couple months before we decide.

The teachers are mostly wonderful, the facility is fine, and I do like the model of keeping the kids together during a school year (though we've been there long enough to find that is not always true, if the school decides it needs to do some rearranging). However, we have observed with other families with whom we're friendly, and have now found out firsthand, that they are very inflexible when it comes to class placement. That is, when they have a large number of kids within a given age range and they are dividing them into two classes, they are not flexible with regard to which kids go in which class. My younger child will be the only girl in a class of 10 come fall, and separated from the classmates she was with for 2 years. Our pleas to rearrange the classes to keep her with the kids she's been with, or at least put another girl in her class, fell on deaf ears. And while the administration was willing to meet with us -- which we appreciated -- the story of how the placement came about kept changing and we are deeply unhappy with the situation. (While also recognizing, however, that it's just preschool and not the end of the world.)

Overall I would recommend the school, but it's not utopia. No place is. With daycares, as everywhere else, you have to prioritize the good points over the bad depending on what's important to you.

Of course no place is utopia, and you should share your experience, but there is no reason to knock mine. Our other child was in three different centers over the years, and none compared with Wonders. So of course there is no utopia, but relative to other centers we have experienced Wonders really is, well, wonderful.
