We use AirBnb or VBRO - we tend to stay on the "quiet side of the island" as Bar Harbor is fun but whoa...crowded. Love Acadia but it takes some vacation management. Get up and hike early so you can get parking!

It depends what you want. Tons of people from points well south of Maine return every year. Most everywhere in Maine is nice, but Acadia is like nowhere else in the eastern US. There’s tons to do.

Bailey Island. I like Cook's Island View Motel because I can walk to everything, including the ferry to Portland.

I’ve been to North Haven a number of times and it really is something special. Many parts of the island are VERY quiet. Motorists wave to each other.

I like all the activities and the mountains of Acadia. I also like the convenience of a bridge rather than a ferry. But it does feel crowded.

What kind of vacation are you looking for? We stay at point sebago every year with friends. But we just like to swim, play around, cook BBQ, and hang out.

Kennebunkport is great too and we do a few long weekends there a year (we live in southern NH).

Bar hatbor is my favorite if you're looking for more activity, but it will be crowded.

One of our favorite places is North Haven Island. It's small but the night sky is amazing and it's so relaxing there.

We typically spend a week or two in Kennebunkport. Love the area.

We are 2 families with 6 kids between us. All kids next summer will be 7 and under. We've stayed in Ogunquit and enjoyed it, but it was pretty crowded. Any other recommendations?
