At the end of the day, a reputable breeder will never breed for color. They’ll breed within the standard, sure—but they should be breeding for structure and temperament first. Nearly all decent breeders will match the puppy to you, vs you picking the puppy.
A lab is a fabulous breed to bring home—but I’d go looking for the best lab breeder you can find and be open to a chocolate/yellow/black with the right personality for your family set up.
