It's fine and I'd be more worried about long lines at 9-10pm

Much like Mayberry, Alameda is a very safe town. The crime rate is only 28.58 per 1,000 residents, a startling contrast to nearby Oakland and San Francisco. Oakland has a crime rate of 83.40 per 1,000 residents (and is ranked as the 5th most dangerous city in the U.S.) and San Francisco’s crime rate is (67.67 per 1,000 residents). Why is the crime so low? Some people theorize that criminals think twice before committing crimes because the police could close off the entrances to the island if they had to.

Ok, but in the presence of conflicting information, why is it a problem to ask the question?

No, but one quick google should show that Alameda is well-established as a very safe place.

I literally googled "Alameda CA safety" and this is the first result:

Compared to Oakland and most of San Francisco, Alameda is a safe haven, but is far from being a safe little town. According to NeighborhoodScout.com, Alameda has a crime index of 24 out of 100, 100 being the safest. In comparison, Oakland has a crime index of 1, San Francisco a 2, and Danville a 57.

Former East Bay resident here.

In N' Out is totally safe. Every In N' Out I've been to has been busy and well-lit at 9 PM. That's not even that late.

It's fine. Even 90% of Oakland is fine these days.

I lived in that area a few years ago, but back then it would have been fine. Probably still is

Used to be a nuclear sub depot, so it’s turned over to expensive housing — should be fine. Fries may glow in dark though.

Please be kind! I’m not familiar with the Bay Area. We’re going there next week and DH really wants In-N-Out the night we get there. The closest one to our Air BnB is in Alameda. I know Oakland at least used to have a sort of sketchy reputation. Is it safe to go there for dinner? It would probably be around 9 or 10 pm.

Thanks!
