Well, I guess they technically didn't promise that you wouldn't have to buy new kits other than the general rule of thumb that they are good for two years.
I'm not really sure why switching to Nike would have made the kits free, but since that was clearly a possibility it is telling that the St James choose not to do you any favors by eating the Puma contract AND providing free Nike kits.
Hell, all they needed to do was replace the jerseys with the new logos and eat that cost or reduce the price in good faith. But to go immediately to completely new kits?
I believe they tried but last years jersey were discontinued and new families could not purchase. Plus a new sponsor so the logo across the front would need to be removed, covered or accepted. I had to buy new kits anyway as my kid grew more and the old socks get worn out.
