I told them nothing. I scheduled monitoring appointments super early in the morning and near work. Why not schedule yours first thing?

Why would they need to know anything? Do you tell them you're having sex and TTC?

I took sick leave and ASSLA as needed. No one at work was the wiser.

I just dropped into conversation that I was going to need extensive dental work over the next few months and didn't that suck.

Because some people are stupid and like drama.

Sure. File away for fmla. Then what will you do when you need to use fmla for a baby?

This is what I do.

Are you kidding? No. Plenty of people have doctors appointments. It’s only for a short period of time. I don’t think you can even get cola for going to monitoring appointments. That’s absurd. Would you try to evoke Fmla for allergy shots?

Enter leave like you normally would. If you can’t take leave for IVF then make sure to realize that pregnancy and having a baby may make it impossible to keep your job. There are just as many appointments when you’re pregnant and they take longer.

How much time would you be out of the office? Are you talking 90 min or three hours? If it’s the latter, can you schedule them for as late in the day or as close to lunch time as possible? Can you tell your boss you have some medical appts and while the scheduling isn’t ideal that you’ll make it as least disruptive as possible?

My monitoring appointments and egg retrieval procedures are in the middle of the afternoon instead of early morning. I don’t want the invasion of privacy by telling my boss and coworkers but I also want to protect my job. should I apply for FMLA?
