I travel to the beach/family trips a few times a year and while the run flat can get you off the road - if you are in the middle of nowhere it is not a common tire to find. and depending on the tire brand you have may not be able to be repaired/mechanic will not repair.
I do not think I can risk being stuck somewhere for a few days waiting for a tire to get shipped.
This....I NEVER purchase vehicles with those garbage run flat tires. There is no spare tire and if you get a nail on the side, you are hosed as the car is NOT DRIVEABLE with this condition. It has to be towed and yes, those run flats are not exactly a shelf item at a tire store or Costco. This crap happened to me on a Vette while on a trip to the outer banks. Had to have it towed and ruined the trip. Sold the damn car after that.....
