No other nation on earth supports the inhumane treatment of Palestinians as the USA and Israel do. History will not judge them kindly.

These are not trends. This is about throwing people out of their houses, ancestral homelands, and killing them when they understandably start fighting back.

These are facts. This is not anti-Semitism or even anti-Israel. We support the existence of Israel, we deplore and fight against anti-Semitic violence and slurs in everyday life. Just don’t take advantage of greater wealth and firepower to crush your neighbors, for God’s sake!!! Shameful.

You don't get to police whether others are "real" Jews. If they don't speak for you, fine, but they speak for others.

There are many many Jewish people in Takoma Park that don't find this film to be anti-Semitic and are proud that the city is showing the film and hosting a panel discussion afterwards.

I applaud TP for bringing in Jewish voices calling for an end to the occupation, and for peace.

Increasingly, young Jews are breaking with their elders over US foreign policy in the Middle East. I realize this is hard for a lot of older (Boomer aged) Jews, but the younger generation has grown up in a post-Rabin world. They have literally never known a pro-peace Israeli government and their attitudes have been shaped by the actions of Netanyahu and his like.

A statement from the mayor posted on their website on 7/12:

" As with other We Are Takoma films and arts programming, the Mayor and City Council, do not endorse nor back the content."

Then it goes on to say they engaged a professional facilitator to lead a discussion after the film. One of the speakers attending is a rabbi from a local synagogue. Another is with J Street, a "pro-Israel, pro-peace organization" according to their website.

Seems to me like they have a wide set of views represented on the panel discussion afterwards, and a professional facilitator. Reminds me of my days at college when they brought in controversial speakers.

No one is being forced to go to the event. There are plenty of movies and books I disagree with, so I choose not to see them and not to read those books.
if a locality showed a islamophobic film would you say the same thing? Roger waters is a notorious antisemite

There are plenty of films bashing the Saudi government, including about the Kashhogi killing. No one has called for those to be banned.
were they narrated by islamophobes like how this one is by an antisemite ?

Bad comparison. If a local municipality screened a film that criticized the Ayatollah, or the Government of Iran, it would not necessarily be Islamophobic despite Iran's identity as a Muslim nation.

A critique of the Israeli government is not inherently antisemitic.

I mean, the absolute freak out over any discussion of the occupation is a pretty good indication that the film has some valid points.

I don't like the film or the group that's sponsoring it. Yes, I do think the film is anti-Semitic. However, I strongly disagree with the premise of the article that criticism of Israeli government policies = anti-Semitic.

It’s fashionable and hip to be anti-Israel, just as long as you don’t have a large Jewish population as your constituency.

Hucker doesn’t. Most Jews in MoCo live either in Rockville, Kensington or Wheaton. Very few are in Tacky Park, so he is free to be the Jewhater that others in MoCo aspire to be, but can’t for sake of political survival.
