All schools and communities have this problem. It is insidious. Please understand this

So each boy can claim that it wasn't them, it must have been the other one.

You might want to report your own post to get Jeff's attention to see if he is OK with posting the sister's name or just linking the thread.

I’ve seen the Twitter feed posted by the older brother (it’s been retweeted over 600 times since posted on Friday and has 2.2k likes) and the FB post from the older sister (shared over 100 times since Friday). The sister has tagged MCPS, and all the local news outlets. She also said in her post that she wants her (the sister’s) story “to be seen and heard by as many people as possible.” She made her FB post public so anyone can search her name and read the post, which also has the link to the twitter feed. I’m thinking that posting the name of the older sister so people can read the FB post would be fine based on tagging news outlets,MCPS, and saying she wants the story to be seen by as many people as possible.

What do you think? O.K. to post the name of the older sister so the FB post can be read?

I'm not asking you to post a link but I have not seen anything circulating on any big Olney group. Are these groups just for Sherwood? I might be worth a larger community discussion.

There is a cyber bullying post making the rounds across Olney social media. It's terrible (3 boys bullying a girl online for months, and there's a backstory with additional terrible behavior making the rounds through conversations IRL). It prompted me to google Sherwood bullying, and this popped up: https://www.stopbullying.gov/blog/2014/07/29/maryland-teen-hopes-make-bullying-thing-past.html. While a noble effort, it's clear it was prompted by bullying. Which begs the question, "Does Sherwood have a bullying problem?" Inquiring minds want to know.

Next question: how does the average mcps high school handle such bullying? And, how does Sherwood handle it? They have a relatively new principal who is supposedly better than the last one, but the school does seemingly put sports before all else (including the fact that weekly robocalls literally lead with sports announcements)...and the 3 boys involved are athletes. Since this is just coming to light over the summer (when school isn't in session), I'm curious what the school can do if notified? (Note: the harassment (which was outed through screen shots on Facebook and Twitter) was bad. Beyond the typical cursing and nasty comments, at least one post suggested the girl should kill herself/jump off a bridge.)

Curious if any other parents know how mcps high schools typically handle such things---and curious if anyone with firsthand knowledge of Sherwood knows if this sort of behavior is rampant, and if it is sufficiently addressed?
