We asked that our DD be in a group, ideally just girls around her age but at least coed. She had already done a few resilience groups so we were after a social skills group of her same age peers to learn how to carry on conversations, etc. She was placed in a group of very nice kids 18-24 months younger (still in ES rather than MS) doing resilience building. The only reason it was coed was because she was in it. So they did not meet a single criterion that we had requested. It felt like they just wanted to fill their group rather than really work with our DD.

Dr. Sasha Hileman in Rockville is great. The practice used to be Quince Orchard Psychotherapy but they have changed it.

They aren't! We spent several months there with a therapist treating DC for a condition they don't have while refusing to believe the condition they DO have and a neuropsych later supported.

Get a specific name of someone good, I would not assume they all are top notch according to what I have heard.

My daughter has worked with Alexis Herschthal with Sibley and Associates next to Politics and Prose. She established good rapport with my daughter, but I'm not sure it made much of a difference.

On the other hand, my daughter likes Hope Harris-Black. So I think it's very personality dependent.

I liked Christy Donley at CAAT but she wasn't a good fit for my DD. She has a serious demeanor but my kid needs someone more bubbly. Nonetheless she had some good advice and a lot of people recommend her.

You can try Center for Assessment and Treatment in Chevy Chase but avoid Hope Harris Black. I found her overbearing, argumentative and condescending to my child. The practice does have alot of experience in that area and you should be able to find someone else there who your DD jells with.

I welcome recommendations for individual therapists in Montgomery County who work frequently with elem age/tween girls with Aspergers. Thank you.
