And I don't make a fuss about much usually. I refused baby showers for both children, and am super laid back. Sorry if "stealing the thunder" put off the wrong message. I just want my son to feel like an individual, these are two boys born the same year, and they will be going to the same schools unless one of us moves.

DP. I grew up with two cousins named Kendra. To the extent any of the kids appeared to care at family gatherings, it was me being jealous that I wasn’t a Kendra too. They seemed to like having the same name, like they were a special club of just Kendras (not that they were mean about it or anything).

You are making way too much out of this. For all you know, your kid will hate being called Joe and will go back to Jonah by the time he’s even old enough to know the difference.

I have cousins who are very close to each other named Crystal, Kristin, and Christopher. I don't see this as a big deal.

Your kid will presumably have nicknames they pick up from friends, but unless they're in the same school, at home they'll go by whatever you probably called them when they were too little to have an opinion. So pick different "family nicknames" for the kids, or always call them Jonah and Joseph when they're together, and all will go well.

Our second childs name is Jonah and is 2 months, and my SIL and BIL are due in a few months with their fiest. They revealed that they would have named their son Jonah but changed it when they found out they were having a boy. Mind you, we have told everyone our son would be named Jonah when we were pregnant with #1 who turned out to be a girl. SIL told me their boy's name will be Joseph, and will have the same nicknames as our Jonah: Joe, JoJo, Joey. Does anyone else find this odd? We live 1 mile away and they will see eachother often. My daughter is Zoë and we call her Zo. Zo, joe, and Joe... Strange, right? Or am I making a big deal? We aren't going to say anything to them but feel as if they are stealing our little ones thunder.
